Hi There

Im after some advice please.

I will be visiting Japan for 2 weeks from the 3rd October.

I want to know if it is worth me buying the 7 day rail pass. I plan to stay in tokyo for the first 6 days to explore so i wont be activating the pass straight away, on the 10th 0ct i will travel to Kyoto where i will stay and make day trips to osaka and Nara. I will return back to Tokyo on the 14th October.

If i buy the pass i was thinking to get the ordinary pass (not 1st class) will there be sufficient room to store luggage on standard coaches?

I just need some advice as to whether my trips require this pass or i can buy normal train tickets for my destinations?

Thanks in advance for your help
Julie

Hi Julie,

I do recommend using a 7 day JR Pass for Tokyo - Kyoto - Tokyo - Narita Airport and the day trips to Nara and Osaka. The 7 day JR Pass is roughly the same price as a return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen and you can make good savings also including Nara, Osaka and travel to Narita Airport.

There is enough space on board the Shinkansen to take your suitcase with you.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
