Hello, I'm trying to do a cost comparison to find out what JR pass i would need, or whether i simply purchase our tickets each time?
Our itinerary is:

22 January - Narita to Tokyo
22 January - 24 January - Tokyo city
25 January - Tokyo to Myoko Kogen
30 - January - Myoko Kogen to Kyoto
2 February - Kyoto to Takayama
3 February - Takayama to Shirakawa-go
4 February - Shirakawa-go to Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park
6 February - Jigokudani Park to Nozawa Onsen

Thank you. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello there,

I was going trough your itinerary for the best option but think it would be best to stick to normal tickets. The amount of JR travel you will do is most likely below the cost of a JR Pass and you will do a lot of travel on Non-JR lines and buses.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
