Hello,

This is the first time I use this Forum. I am planning to visit Japan with my family of 4 in April. I have made the following program:

02 April: Arrival Osaka 18.30 pm
03 April:Osaka
04 April : Osaka
05 April : Early morning departure for Nara; late afternoon back to Osaka; overnight Osaka
06 April: a.m. Shinkansen to Nagasaki; afternoon Nagasaki ( ; overnight Nagasaki
07 April: Morning/ early afternoon Nagasaki ; Around 4 pm Shinkansen to Hiroshima; Overnight Hiroshima
08 April : a.m Hiroshima; around 4 pm Shinkansen to Kyoto; overnight in Kyoto
09 April : Kyoto
10 April : a.m.Kyoto; Afternoon with shinkansen (?) from Kyoto to Kanazawa; overnight overnight in Kanazawa
11 April : Trip to World Heritage Site Shirakawago & Gokayama; Overnight in Kanazawa
12 April : Departure from Kanazawa with Shinkansen to Tokyo
13 April : Tokyo
14 April : Tokyo
15 April :Departure from Tokyo

We want to travel with a JR Green Pass for 14 days. My question is : Is this itinerary the most efficient one when it comes to using the Shinkansen services, is the JR Pass covering (most of ) this Itinerary and is it doable in terms Shinkansen Time schedules

Thank you for your help

Hello Seven,

Welcome to the forum.

Looking at your itinerary, there is no unnecessary travel or back tracking but you will travel a lot. Especially Travel to Nagasaki is a long route to traverse. Here is where Green Class comes in handy and will make the trip much more relaxed to make. You'll also get very good value out of the JR Pass with this itinerary.

Travel from Kyoto to Kanazawa is by ltd. express train. This is the Thunderbird express traveling directly between both cities and covered by the JR Pass. The only part not covered would be the bus from Kanazawa to Shirakwa-go.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
