Hello,

This is my first time travelling to Japan and I am not very familiar with the train and bus services. I would like to seek advice if getting a 7 Day Jr Pass would be worth it for my itinerary below:

Day 1:
Arrive at Tokyo - Check in and explore the city

Day 2:
Disneysea - Spend the night @ Shinjuku

Day 3
Fujisan- Ascent/ Night in the mountains

Day 4
Fujisan- Descend/ Spend the night @ Shinjuku

Day 5
Head to Matsumoto, explore Matsumoto city

Day 6
Day trip to Yamanouchi (Monkey Spring)

Day 7
day trip to Kamikochi

Day 8
Day trip to Kiso Valley

Day 9
Check-out of Matsumoto accom, head for Alpine route (Rest in Murodo)

Day 10
Finish exploring Alpine Route and head to Kanzawa (rest in Kanzawa)

Day 11
Explore Kanzawa

Day 12
Bus to Shirakawa-go in the Morning -Explore Shirakawa-go/ Overnight stay

Day 13
Finish up exploring Shirakawa-go - Night bus back to tokyo

If I were to get a 7 day JR pass, which day should I start the activation?

Hello there,

I see you plan to explore the Japanese alps :)

For your itinerary it is better to buy normal tickets as you travel. This because ticket prices are below the price of a 7 day JR Pass, this is also due to the fact that most travel is within the same area and you will travel back to Tokyo using the night bus.

Though it all looks good for the rest. I am not sure that period you plan to travel in but [Kamikochi] near Matsumoto may be worth visiting as well.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hello Daniel-san,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me with the analysis! <3

I have already included Kamikochi on day 7 of my itinerary haha. It seems that this place is highly recommended by many people.

Regards
JC
