Hi there,

I would love to know if this sounds like a good itinerary or if we should consider buying the 14 day pass. We are on a budget but want to see as much of Japan as possible. We fly into and out of Tokyo.

Day 1 - arrive in tokyo late night
Day 2 - sightsee tokyo
Day 3 - sightsee tokyo
Day 4 - activate JR pass and travel to hakone
Day 5 - stay in hakone / leave in the evening to kyoto
Day 6 - sightsee kyoto
Day 7 - sightsee kyoto
Day 8 - osaka
Day 9 - osaka
Day 10 - hiroshima for the day and evening train back to tokyo
Day 11 - 15 - we don't have planned and are not sure where to go / what to see

I would really appreciate any info you might have and any suggestions

Thanks very much

Jo

Hi Jo,

By making the route Tokyo - Hiroshima, the 14 day JR Pass almost becomes an auto include directly. Certainly so, if you do any additional vists, Such as Kyoto/Osaka and make a day trip somewhere. The JR Pass can be used for travel between all the places you plan to visit. You may still have to use local transport in Hakone. Here a Hakone Free Pass could be useful.

Near the end of your itinerary, I would suggest making a day trip to Nikko near Tokyo. Other interesting day trips from Tokyo, include Yokohama and Kamakura.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
