Is JR line and Shinkansen different? Where can I check which station should I get on to for using JR pass or the timetable of the train? Is there a website that displays these? It would be very helpful for me to plan my time ahead.

I will be visitng Universal Studio Osaka during 8th or 9th October, which is the long weekend as 10th October is public holiday in Japan. May I know whether i should book my tickets first because I am afraid there will be many people and ticket might be sold out. Same goes for Tokyo DisneySea, should I buy the tickets first before going? Suggestions and recommendation would be really helpful!

Is there any shrine or temple worth visiting for prayers?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi there,

Shinkansen are bullet train lines and these are all included in the JR Pass. Outside of that, JR lines are traditional railways that are also included in the JR Pass. I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/time table and more. Its a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

Theme parks like Disneyland and Universal studios will be very busy during public holidays, I would visit them on different days where possible or else book tickets beforehand.

There are many temples and shrines worth visiting. In Tokyo I would include Asakusa and Sensoji, Meji-shrine near Harajuku is also worth a visit.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
