Hello! I will be arriving in Tokyo Narita on January 12 at 15:15.
I will be most grateful if you can advise on the following itinerary:

12 Jan : Arrival Tokyo Narita, Proceed to Kanazawa (either by 530pm flight to Komatsu or to go by Shikansen ?)
13 Jan : Kanazawa
14 Jan: Kanazawa to Shirakawago/Takayama
15 Jan : Takayama
16 Jan : Takayama- Matsumoto
17 Jan : Matsumoto to Tsumago
18 Jan : Tsumago to Nagoya (Shikansen to) Kyoto
19 Jan : Kyoto
21 Jan: Kyoto to Tokyo (either by flight through Kansai/Itumi) or Shikansen?)
22 Jan : Depart Tokyo

Which Regional Passes should I get?
Many thanks for your advice.

Hi there,

I would recommend using a 14 day JR Pass if you were to travel by rail but only if you go to Kanazawa by Shinkansen and take the Shinkansen back to Tokyo as well. Both are nice and smooth trips to make by Shinkansen and are direct trips. Flying either route involves a lot more stops and may not be faster.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
