WE WILL BE going from tokyo to Ueda for 3 days, day trips to nagano n nearby, then 3 days in Kanazawa with day trip to Toyama then return to tokyo. Would you recommend the Hokuriku arch pass or JR 7 day pass? thanku

Hi there,
Assuming this all fits in 7 days the Hokuriku Arch Pass is the best option.
It will help you save extra money, and the trains it covers are the same as the JR Pass on this route.
