Hello Everyone

I will travel for the 4th time to Japan this summer and was wondering which Passes I should get.

Here's what we have planed:

day 1 arrive in Toyko
days 2-3 Tokyo with day trips to Kawagoe and Kawasaki
day 4 travel Tokyo to Mutsumoto
day 5 in Matsumoto/Kamikouchi
day 6 travel Matusmoto to Kanazawa
day 7 Kanazawa
day 8 travel Kanazawa to Takayama
day 9-10 Takayama and Shirakawa
day 11 travel Takayama to Osaka
days 12-14 Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto or Nara
day 15 travel Osaka to Shingu
day 16-17 Things in/around Shingu
day 18 travel Shingu to Nagoya
day 19-20 Nagoya maybe some day trip
day 21 travel Nagoya to Ito
day 22 Ito
day 23 travel Ito to Nikko
day 24-25 Nikko
day 26 travel Nikko to Toyko
day 27 Tokyo
day 28 depart from Tokyo

Until now we always have purchased the JR Pass for all of Japan but this time I was wondering if there is a better alternative?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi there,

You are travelling to many stops and on a nearly basis, through different regions and covering a long distance. The Japan Rail Pass is only option and will help you make great savings compared to buying normal tickets on this route. I'd go with the 21 day JR Pass, as you travel nearly every day.

A regional pass is often the best when you travel a specific area and for a period of 3-7 days.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
