Hi folks,

I am arriving in Tokyo on June 18th and departing on the 2nd July from Osaka.

My itinerary so far is:
Tokyo (4 Nights, 18th - 22nd) including day trip to Nikko
Depart Tokyo morning of 22nd to Hiroshima
Hiroshima to Kyoto (24th)
Kyoto (24th - 27th)
Kyoto to Gotemba late 27th (Doing a guided tour of Fuji on 28/29)
Gotemba to Osaka on evening of 29th
Osaka 29th - July 2nd
Depart Osaka morning of the 2nd.

Am I better off getting the 14 day pass for all these trains? Or would it be better to get the 7 day pass and activate on the trip to Hiroshima.

Appreciate the advise!

Thanks in advance,
Kieran.

Hello Kieran,

You will be traveling longer distances for more than 7 days and I think a 14 day JR Pass is the easy choice with such as active itinerary. You'll be able to use it for travel between all the cities you plan to go to and make good savings in the meantime.

Technically you could also look at using a 7 day JR Pass from the 21st (given that you'd visit Nikko on the 21st) to the 27th, for travel to Gotemba. You could then buy a one way to Osaka and other tickets for the remaining days.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
