Daniel-San,

Based on your guidance to several other travelers- I believe the best option is the 7 day Rail Pass as ultimately we round trip back to Tokyo. But given this is my wife's Birthday trip I want to make sure...

Here is our proposed itinerary:

March 31: afternoon arrival at NRT- Hotel is near Ginza Station
March 31- April 3: Tokyo Proper day trips to Sensoji Temple, Imperial Palace, Tokyo Dome, Tsukiji Market, cherry blossom viewing, etc
- possible train to Mt. Fuji or we will see it on April 3 as we go by

April 3- Train from Tokyo to Osaka

April 3-5 Staying in Osaka - Hotel is near Shin Osaka Station
April 3 & 5 Day trips around Osaka: Himeji Castle, Osaka Castle, Nara, Miyajima/Hiroshima, Shinsekai April 4 day trip to Kyoto - return to Osaka

April 5 - Train from Osaka to Tokyo - Hotel is near Ginza Station
April 6 - Evening flight from NRT- so probably will fit in a couple more sites or return to a local favorite

Appreciate your guidance and if the rail pass would assist on transit from NRT to Ginza district

thanks!

Hi there,

Yes, I would agree. Using a 7-day JR Pass for travel to Osaka, Himeji, Hiroshima and back to Tokyo/Narita would be the best option. You'll make very good savings on this route and the JR Pass covers travel to all the places you want to visit.

For going to Ginza, this area is closely located to Tokyo station. From NRT take the Narita Express to Tokyo station, then the JR Yamanote line to Yurakucho station from where you can reach Ginza on foot in 5-10 minutes. You could also take a taxi from Tokyo station if you have a lot of luggage, as it is not a long trip.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
