Two itineraries -- which is best?

Hi there!

I'm planning three weeks in Japan in June and have two ideas for the itinerary. For a first visit which one do you recommend for scenery and food? And would the 14-day or 21-day pass work better? Thank you so much!

Option 1 * Tokyo * Central Japan: Maybe Hida-Takayama or Shirakawa or Matsumoto or Kanazawa? * Kyoto * Osaka * Hokone * Tokyo

Option 2 * Tokyo * Sapporo * Kyoto * Osaka * Tokyo

Thank you very much!

Hi there,

They are quite different itineraries and what's best depends on a lot of factors but mostly your own preferences.

To me option one looks more interesting as it has a wider variety of items, also the travel time is less compared to going all the way up to Sapporo.

You could do either trip in 14 days but longer is of course nicer :)

Does that answer your question?

Hi Daniel!

Thanks so much for answering. We're refining the details, but I agree that for our first trip, option 1 would be great.

Best,

Mark
