Trip 5-18 September

Hello!

I am arriving in Tokyo Narita on the 5th of September and will be leaving on the 18th. My plan is to start in Tokyo, go to Mount Fuji, Kyoto (and Arashiyama nearby), Osaka and come back to Tokyo for a few days.

1) My first idea was to take a 2-week JR railpass. I saw there are regional passes but not for 2 weeks?

2) Otherwise I thought of taking a 1-week pass and squeeze my trips outside Tokyo within a week. But then it does not include trains from/to the airport.

For both options, do you think it is worth taking a Railpass over single tickets?

Many thanks,

Anouk

Hi there,

1 and 2.) There are many different regional passes but there is none that would really cover your itinerary. That said, I would try and use a 7 day JR Pass to travel from Tokyo or Fuji to Kyoto, Osaka and Back to Tokyo. These are the more expensive trips and where id be worth using a JR Pass. Local travel in and around Tokyo will cost a lot less by comparison and using normal tickets here is completely fine.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
