Hi again :)

That's an interesting trip!

1.) It makes sense to use the pass right from day one as you will be able to use the Kansai Wide area Pass later on.

2.) If you had some more time, I would stay 2-3 more days in Kyoto. There's so much to enjoy there but I would not know what to skip in turn.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

There's so much but here are 10 things I would hearty recommend:

1.) Arashiyama area (bamboo, sagano scenic railway, plenty of temples)
2.) Golden Pavilion
3.) Fushimi Inari for the endless tori gates
4.) Goin - where the Geisha live
5.) Silver pavilion and philosophers path
6.) Nishimarket and endless small shops around Kawaramatchi
7.) Explore Kyoto station and hop over to the Kyoto Railway museum/Aquarium and Toda-ji, all very close together.
8.) Go to Uji, amazing green tea and the temple complex is very famous (pictured on the 5 yen coin).
9.) Kibune and Kurama, great hiking and Onsen and temples.
10.) Nijou castle

Could go on :)

hi Daniel
I will be using the "Osaka-Nagoya-Ise-Kumano-Wakayama Area tourist 5 day Pass"
so this entitles me up to Hashimoto JR station. after which I need to purchase other passes or tickets to get to Koyasan.
should I be buying the heritage tickets ? they have 2 types :regular and limited express. I am quite confused.
or should I buy ad hoc tickets ?
please advice
thank you
