Is it possible to do the Alpine Route starting in Tateyama or Toyama and finishing in Tokyo in one day or should we try and stay the night in Nagano then go to Tokyo? If anyone has a specific itinerary with connection details I would appreciate it greatly. Also any moderate hotel recommendations with twin bed configuration for me and my 17 year old son. Most of what I see is people starting in Tokyo. We will be coming from Osaka the day prior and stay the night somewhere in Tateyama or Toyama. Thank you

Hi there,
It is possible but you'd have to get up early and my be rather tired when reaching Tokyo. There is regular service on the transport options along the route but connection details will often depend on your own hiking speed and if you want to make any side visits along the trail.
Look for hotels near Shinano-Omachi or Matsumoto near the end of the trail on general websites like booking. There are some really good capsule hotels in Matsumoto, worth an experience in itself.
