I need help and advice planning out my transportation between various cities. I would like to use my JR Pass as much as possible and avoid paying high Shinkansen Nozomi train fares which aren't covered by the JR Pass. I don't mind paying for local transportation fares between JR Pass routes.
1. Shinjuku to Nara - Saturday, April 2nd - departing early morning
2. Nara to Miyajima - Sunday, April 3rd- departing early morning
3. Miyajima to Osaka - Monday, April 4th - departing mid morning
4. Osaka to Shinjuku - Thursday, April 7th - departing early morning
Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!!!
Shinjuku to Nara to Miyajima to Osaka to Shinjuku

Hi there,
You could use a 7 day JR Pass perfectly for this. It covers travel between all the above places, including the ferry to Miyajima and also use the bullet train where needed.
The Nozomi is not included in the JR Pass but you can use any other bullet train service instead, such as the Hikari. This is the same type of train but makes a couple more stops on the way.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

Mahalo Daniel-san...really appreciate the help!
We got referred to www.hyperdia.com ...very helpful site to plan out transportation routes.
Site allows you to filter out non-JR Pass routes...and customize your search...recommended it to anyone dealing with the same issue we were.
Thanks again!
