Hi, I was wondering if someone could advise on which pass would be better for my itinerary as below, the Kansai Hokuriku Area Pass or the Hokuriku Arch Pass? A 7-day JR pass doesn't look like the best value.
Day 1 - arrive in Tokyo (Narita to Shinjuku)
Day 2 - day trip Fuji
Day 3 - Shinjuku to Mito
Day 4 - Mito
Day 5 - Mito to Sano (Tobu-Sano station)
Day 6 - Sano
Day 7 - Sano to Kanazawa (I guess I would start using the pass on this day to get the best value, but can I use it on the JY Ryomo Line to Takasaki where I would then change onto the Hokuriku shinkansen? Or would I need to buy another pass for part of that trip?)
Day 8 - Kanazawa
Day 9 - Kanazawa
Day 10 - Kanazawa to Osaka
Day 11 - Osaka to Kansai Airport
Many thanks in advance :)

Hi there,

The choice is quite simply, the Hokuriku Arch Pass also covers the Shinkansen from Tokyo/Takasaki to Kanazawa. This trip is by far the most expensive and using the Hokuriku Arch Pass. You can however only use the Shinkansen on this route and would need to use the pass from there.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
