Hello:
We are arriving in Tokyo on June 4th and then travelling to Kyoto the next day. We will be visiting Kyoto-Osaka-Hiroshima and returning to Tokyo on June 12 and staying a few days. It makes a total of 7 days. How is the validity of the 7 days rail pass calculated? We will use the Shikansen line as much as possible. Also, is it possible to use it for traveling to the city from the airport?. Thank you!
Please advise if possible
Hi there,
The JR Pass is calculated in days and the first day is counted as a full day, no matter what time you start using it. For instance, activating it on a Monday, would mean that the last day of travel is the following Sunday.
Travel on the local JR Network in Tokyo is also included, you can also use it to travel to both Haneda and Narita Airport.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Thank you! Which web site would you recommend to get accurate train schedules?. On a standard pass, can we make seat reservations in advance?. Sorry for the many questions.
You can use Hyperdia or JapanNavi, both work well. Google maps is good too but often shows the Nozomi Shinkansen, which is not included in the pass.
You can make seat reservations at the station in person and for booking in advance too.
Kind regards,
Daniel
