We are a family 4 adults travelling to Japan in Feb/2024 for 12 days .

I want to know what the best JR pass for us.

We arrive in Tokyo then we are going to Kyoto, Nara and Osaka.

we plan to go to Hiroshima/ Himeji Castle., Miyajima and Fukuoka.

Then we depart from Fukuoka airport to fly to South Korea.

Hi there,

You can either purchase a 7-day pass in combination with regular train tickets, or can purchase a 14-day pass for ease of use. To save as much as possible, it would most likely suit you best to activate it as you leave Tokyo up until you get back to Hiroshima from Miyajima. Then you could purchase regular tickets to Fukuoka from Hiroshima.

Despite this, all of your destinations are fully included in the JR Pass, and so a 14-day pass may also benefit you if you don't mind spending a bit more.

Hope this helps!

Which do you think we will spend less : buy a JR Pass or separate tickets?

Hi there,

It depends on whether you can fit your most costly travel days in a 7-day window. If they don't fit and your itinerary remains the same, you will spend less buying tickets separately.

Hope this helps!
