Making the most of our JR Pass, Osaka to Tokyo

A good day to all,

I'm sorry if this becomes a repost but I can't find the right set of information, or rather I'm just starting to understand the complexity of the rail network in Japan.

We are going on a 7 day trip to Japan this holiday season and we've been thinking of purchasing the JR Pass for two, right now thinking it's the most cost efficient. We're looking on how to make the most of it but so far we're all sorts of confused, like finding out that Shinkanzen from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo is made up of three types, with Nozomi not taking the JR Pass. We'd really appreciate any help in piecing our trip together so we can spend less time being lost.

So far our stations itinerary goes:

  1. Kansai International Airport
  2. Universal-City
  3. Osaka
  4. Shin-Osaka
  5. Tokyo
  6. Nippori
  7. Narita International Airport

Basically we're looking for the trains that use the JR Pass as we go from station to station. Any help will be very appreciated.

Please and thank you.

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary for the best option(s) but can't find a JR Pass that would be cost effective here. As such, my recommendation would be to just buy normal tickets as you travel.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
