Hello,
We are trying to figure out if doing the JR Pass is worth it compared to getting passes for our trip. We are looking at going 10-14 days.
We will base ourselves for the first 5-7 days in Kyoto doing day trips to Osaka, Nara, Himeji, and Hiroshima (other than Hiroshima these trips are covered by the Kansai pass though they only sell up to 3 day passes).
We would then travel to Hakone stay a night in Hakone then travel to Tokyo and around Tokyo for the rest of our visit.
1)Do we get the Kansai pass, Hakone day pass, Tokyo pass and just pay for the extra travel around
2) Do we get a 7 day JR Pass and use the Kansai pass first then the JR for the rest?
3) Do we get a 14 day JR pass and just use that
4) Can you manage to get around Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo on the JR pass.
We are very overwhelmed by the amount of options there are for travel and any advice would be appreciated.
