Hi there,
I've done some extensive reading here on this forum and it's been massively helpful. I was just querying whether we are better off with the 7day JR pass as we fall just short but would it cost the same to get back to Tokyo.

Day 1 Toyko
Day 2 Tokyo (using the subway pass)
Day 3 Toyko - Hakone using a day trip to mount Fiji for a hotel drop off.
Day 4 Hakone to Hiroshima via Odawara station Start the JR pass
Day 5 Hiroshima with late train to Kyoto
Day 6 Kyoto
Day 7 Kyoto with a day trip to Nara
Day 8 Kyoto
Day 9 Kyoto to Osaka
Day 10 Osaka with an evening in Kobe
Day 11 Osaka
Day 12 Osaka or Toyko
Day 13 Toyko Disney Sea (Subway Pass)
Day 14 Toyko Disney Sea
Day 15 Flight at 3.20pm

Have I too many days in Osaka/ Kyoto? There's a lot of travelling so would like some free time. As youn can see I'm a day or two short on the 7 day pass, what should I do? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I would consider using a 14 day JR Pass here. The difference in cost between a 7 day and 14 day JR Pass is 17,280yen. The main question is if you can cover this amount in the days that are not already covered by a 7 day JR Pass.

A one way Osaka - Tokyo is ¥ 14,140, that leaves just ¥ 3,140 to cover. A one way Tokyo - Narita Airport using the Narita Airport will already cost about this much. You can also use the JR Pass to Tokyo Disney resort (Maihama station), to Odawara and on local JR lines in Tokyo. All together making it worth it to consider a 14 day JR Pass.

The 7 day JR Pass is a no brainer for sure from day 4 to day 10 for sure.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
