Hi,

I will like to seek your advice whether the Hokuriku Arch pass can be used for my itinerary instead of the more expensive JR Pass. If it is a better option, Is there a also a recommended way to get discounted Hokuriku Arch Pass?

I am planning to stay at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Tokyo-Toyocho from 6Feb to 8Feb and then from 14 Feb to 17 Feb. Will it be possible to leave my luggage there for a couple of days since I will be returning to stay at the very same hotel? Do hotels in Japan allow customers to keep luggage in their premises for so long?

By the way, my flight itinerary has also been fixed. Here is my itinerary as shown below:

6-7Feb: Arrive in Narita Airport. Stay and explore Tokyo.

8Feb: Travel to and explore Nagano. Travel to Iiyama Station and travel to Maradao Ski Resort. Stay overnight.

9Feb: Snowboard lesson. Explore Maradao ski resort.

10Feb: Travel to Snow village hut restaurant (igloo). Watch firework & do snow activities. Travel back to Maradao Ski resort.

11Feb: Snowboard. Travel to Yamanouchi & travel to and explore Jigokudani Monkey Park. Stay over night at Shibu Onsen.

12-13Feb: Travel to Matsumoto castle (can the Hokuriku Arch Pass be used for this travel?) or skip Matsumoto if time does not permit and just travel straight to and explore Osaka.

14Feb: Leave Osaka and travel to Tokyo.

15-16Feb: Explore Tokyo

17Feb: back to Singapore

Thank you for your assistance!

Regards,
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

For luggage, it totally depends on the hotel. I would advise to contact them and ask if they would allow you to keep some items there, as you will be coming back and stay with them again later. It has worked for me in the past with other accommodations but can't speak for the hotel in question.

Now for the Hokuriku Arch Pass, it is not an ideal fit for your itinerary. For instance, travel to Matsumoto is not included. Also, you can go travel on to Osaka but it is not the most direct route. Still, you can consider using it to save money on transport.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
