Would it make sense to buy a JR Pass for the following itinerary:
Sept 11 - Narita to Tokyo
Sept 16 - Tokyo to Hakone
Sept 18 - Hakone to Kyoto
Sept 20 - day trip to Nara
Sept 22 - Kyoto to Naoshima (would it also cover the ferry)
Sept 24 - Naoshima to Tokyo
Sept 27 - Tokyo to Narita

Would 14 day passes make sense starting on the 16th? Or individual tickets

Thank you!

Hi there,

I think the option would be to use a 7 day Japan Rail Pass for day 18th - 24th, this is the period that you cover the most distance by far and where you can make the best savings. The Ferry to Naoshima is not included but it won't cost a lot (around 800yen/one way if I recall correctly).

Then for travel in Hakone, look at using a Hakone Free pass. You can start using the JR Pass from Odawara station, the Shinkansen station for Hakone.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
