Hello everyone!

We’re traveling to Japan in November and would love some advice on whether it’s best to use a 21-day JR Pass, a 14-day JR Pass, or simply buy individual tickets. Here’s our detailed itinerary:

✈️ Itinerary

(Arrival: Haneda Airport) →Tokyo Tokyo → Fuji (~2–2.5h, trains) Fuji → Kanazawa Kanazawa → Takayama Day trips: Nara + Uji
Takayama → Kyoto
Kyoto → Hiroshima Hiroshima → Osaka Day trips: Himeji
Osaka → Tokyo Tokyo → Narita Airport

Any advice or cost breakdown would be really appreciated

Hi there!

It's a very nice trip but I think you'd have to do a bit more travel for the 21-day JR Pass to help you make savings. Potentially you could look at a sorter pass for periods of high travel, or look at a regional pass. Based on what you are writing, I think the Kansai - Hiroshima Area Pass could be a great match.

Kind regards,
Daniel
