Calculating whether the JR pass is worth the money for my 14 day trip

Hi there,
We have 2 adults travelling to Japan in late January and are trying to calculate whether the JR Pass or Regional Pass would be worth it.
Here is our itinerary:
22nd Jan: Narita Airport to Tokyo (Akihabara)
22nd - 25th: Travel inside Tokyo (is this just the suica pass? does JR Pass cover any metros within Tokyo?)
25th Jan: Tokyo to Matsumoto. Matsumoto to Takayama
27th Jan: Bus Takayama to Shirawako-go. Bus back to Takayama. (not covered by JR)
28th Jan: Takayama to Kanazawa
31st: Kanazawa to Kyoto
1st - 3rd: Travel within Kyoto and outskirts
4th: Kyoto to Osaka Kansai Airport

We are not concerned with getting the fastest shinkansen or train between places. We would just like to know if considering our travel all up, the JR pass would be worth it for the 14 day trip.

Thank you so much in advance, I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary but do not think a JR Pass would help you make savings on this route.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

The JR Pass is valid on local JR lines but not the metro.

Kind regards,
