From Shin Aomori station catch Resort Shirakami at 8:16
Enjoy northern coastline at slow pace (sit on right side?)
Arrive in Akita at 13:27
From Akita station catch 14:14 train on Akita Shinkansen (sit on left side?)
Enjoy fall colors and magnificent views through Tazawako at slow pace
Arrive in Morioka at 15:15
1) Is this itinerary doable? Especially the Resort Shirakami on October 15, Monday?
2) I understand I have to make a reservation on Resort Shirakami. Can I make before I authenticate my JR pass in Japan or can I make from the U.S.?
3) Are these the best rides for views in Northern Honshu in October? Is our time of day riding good for lighting/viewing?
4) We spend Monday night in Morioka and then ride to Tokyo for a flight at 17:00 on Tuesday. Are there any stops or other routes to add in Monday night or Tuesday morning?
