I'm traveling with my son and granddaughter (all adults) to Tokyo, arriving on July 5 and leaving from Tokyo on July 17. The general plan is to spend a couple days in Tokyo, then Kyoto for a few days, followed by Osaka and Hiroshima.

I'm not sure about the right number of days per city and amount of travel in between. I'm thinking about getting a rail pass and not sure if 7 or 14 day pass is needed.

We'd like to go to Mt. Koya and stay at a Buddhist temple and I'm not sure how to arrange that experience. Some hot springs would also be great.

Thanks for your help, Trab

Hi Trab,

A 7 day JR Pass is likely the best option if you can include travel to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka with it. These are the trips that cost the most without a pass and where the best savings can be made.

For Koya-san, there are different temples that offer this experience. Their official website can be found here:

Hope this helps,
Daniel
