Hi all,

I have a plan to go Japan in 14 days and have 6 days stay in Tokyo and go some places near Tokyo (Fuji mount, Hitachi) then go Shirakawago, Kyoto, Osaka. My friends say it's not convenience to use JR Pass in Tokyo, should buy Tokyo wide pass to move in Tokyo and use 7 days JR Pass to go to other city . So anyone can give me some advise?

Thanks you.

Hi there,

It really depends on what your day by day plan is. You can for instance use a 7 day JR Pass for travel to Kyoto and Osaka, this will quickly pay for itself.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.
