Need to buy proper JRpass

Hi there, our itineary will go Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. Local train is may using. First day we will go to OSAKA through sleeper train, so we can reduce hotel cost in one night. 3 days will be stay at OSAKA , then back to TOKYO. We might go to local tourism near OSAKA KYOTO and TOKYO. One of my friend had booked JRPass nationwide, but could you please give me advice regarding those itineary? Since the Jrpass nationwide a bit expensive for 7 days. We plan to buy Hokuriku Arch Pass, but a bit confused since one of my friend has bought Jrpass nationwide.

Hi there,

I recommend you do your research well here, as the Hokuriku Arch Pass does not included any night trains. Are you aware that the Hokuriku Arch Pass takes quite a lot longer to travel between Tokyo - Osaka compared to the JR Pass?

Also, what night train did you want to take in the first place?

Hi,

Finally we bought JRpass nationwide (ordinary)
We will arrive at 5PM in Narita, and we gotta go to Osaka . Is is possible to go there through JR? What time the the last train from Narita/Tokyo to Osaka?

Hi there,

It depends on what day you travel, however the last train to Osaka is around 18.30. First you'd take the Narita Express to Tokyo, then the Hikari Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka.

Given that you do not have a lot of time, I would stay the first night in Tokyo or on the way to Osaka, like Nagoya. Then travel on the following day. Planes can be delayed, there may be a queue at Narita Airport etc. better do it safe.

Or you could try for Osaka but think about what plan B would be.
