First time in Japan for 10 days

Hello!

We will be in Japan next week from Dec 20-30.
Staying in Tokyo till Dec 25 and then Dec 26 we will be going to Kyoto (overnight) then Osaka.
Back to Tokyo the night of Dec 29th.
Questions:
1. Can you please let me know if JR Pass is more economical for us to get vs regular rail tickets?
2. Also, if in case it is better to get JR Pass, what shall we get and can we order online then pick up at the airport? We are flying in to Narita.
3. Travelling within Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka what pass would you recommend for us to get? I saw ICOCA, SUICA and PASMO...not sure which one we are supposed to get?

Hi there,

1.) A 7 day JR Pass is a good option here, the cost of the 7 day pass is about the same as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the JR Pass. Now you get 7 days of unlimited travel for the same price.

2.) You can order your pass online here. We do need to ship the pass to you.

3.) These are all the same, just get one and you are all good.
