Hi sir, so what would you suggest where to stay in Tokyo, if next day I'm going to Osaka. I'm traveling with children total 6pax. And the easiest fast transport to Osaka?
What is the best choice train from Narita to Tokyo?
My trip to Japan this time is 10 days only so I try to make full use of it. I planned to stay one night Kobe, two nights Osaka, one night Kyoto, one night Fuji area, Tokyo and Narita early morning flight.
What train pass is best for the whole journey?
Thank you

Hi,
You don't give specific times, but if too late to activate your pass at Narita Airport upon arrival, you might as well find a hotel near the airport for the night - you'll probably be arriving dead tired and there are several inexpensive hotels close by. A 7 day JR pass would serve you well.

The next morning, activate your pass at the airport, take the Narita Express train to Tokyo Station or Shinagawa, and catch the Hikari bullet train to the Kansai area. I think it would be good if you added one more day for Kansai. Just one day in Kyoto doesn't do the city justice. You can also take half a day and see Nara also - it is very worthwhile.

Since you are already seeing Tokyo, you can largely skip Osaka during the day. After the temples of Kyoto close down around 5PM, you can zip over to Osaka for the evening. At night the city comes alive and has some great places to see, such as Dotonbori, plus the night views from the Umeda Sky Bldg, and Abeno Harukas Bldg are wonderful.
On another evening, you could also go and see Kobe.

I highly recommend taking some time to see Himeji, and it will add a lot more value to your rail pass.
For Himeji, the castle is the best in Japan but don't miss the Kokoen Garden next to it, and if you have time, go to Mt. Shosha.

Since you can't use the rail pass to get back to Narita, one cheap way is the 1000 yen bus.

Best of luck.
