Hello! I arrive in Tokyo on the 20th evening. I'll stay in Tokyo until the 25th, when I intend to go to Kyoto, stopping in Hakkone for a day or two. I am not sure about the whole of my itinerary yet, but I will go to Aomori, to Hirosaki Park so I can see the cherry blossoms on 2 May. On 5 May, I have a flight back from Tokyo. I am wondering if I am better off buying a 7-day pass and activating it when going to Kyoto, or buying a 14-day pass and using it all the time? Would it be cheaper? I would still have to pay for the Tokyo Metro separately, right? Thanks

Hi there,

It is hard to say at this point - without knowing more about your itinerary. If you are on a budget, go for the 7-day JR Pass and try to fit in both travel to Kyoto, Aomori/Hirosaki and back to Tokyo. If you want more flexibility, go for the 14-day JR Pass. Either option will help you make very good savings when visiting both Kyoto and the Tohoku region.

Hope this helps and have a good trip!
Daniel
