Yes, absolutely. I've recommended a day trip to Hiroshima. As it both get you the best out of your trip to Japan and JR Pass. Just leave relatively early, so you have most of the day to explore, there are direct trains from Shin-Osaka station.

I'd definitely visit Miyajima, The A-Dome park & museum and Okonomiya Mura.

Do I need to exchange my JR voucher once we arrive in Japan?
We are planning to start using it on our 4th day once we travel to Kyoto.
We will use IC card first for our first 3 days around Tokyo.

Also, can I order IC card online together with JR pass?
