Hi Geoff,

I look up ticket prices to see if a 7day JR-Pass is a good option for you.
In order to do so could you tell me which airport you are landing at? By Ida city do you mean Iida in Nagano?
You can use the JR-Pass for both Shinkansen (exept for Nozomi/Mizuhou trains) and limited express trains.

The travel time between Kyoto and Hiroshima takes 126 Minutes.

Let me know your answers and I can make a overview of ticket costs for you.

The City is Ida …not far from Iida in Nagano.
We arrive into Narita but will stay in Tokyo City for a few days before setting off on our trip.

Thank you for getting back to me.
Sorry I was unable to find Ida myself either by Google maps or Hyperdia, so i used Iida as indication for the ticket price.

Tokyo ->Iida (Nagano) ¥ 7,560
Iida (Nagano) --> Kyoto ¥ 10,690
Kyoto --> Hiroshima ¥ 10,590
Hiroshima --> Osaka. ¥ 10,220

This adds up to 39,060, the 7-Day JRPass is 28,300 savings you 10,760.
Depending you how long you stay in Osaka you may be able to use to pass there as well on local JR-Trains and for the journey back to the airport.
