Does the JR pass work for local trains as well as the Shinkansen?
What is the amount we have to pay up for 12 days per person?
Should we validate the pass upon arrival at Tokyo?
If yes, where do we do that?
Does each person get a pass?
Can our reservation between Tokyo-Osaka be confirmed for Mt.Fuji side seat and Oversized luggage seat?

Hi there,

I'm happy to help! The Nationwide JR Pass options are available for 7, 14, or 21 consecutive days. The JR Pass covers JR-operated trains, including local services and the Shinkansen, with the exception of the Nozomi and Mizuho trains.

Once you arrive in Japan, you can take your physical exchange order voucher to a JR Pass exchange office to activate your pass. This can be done at both Haneda and Narita airports. Please find the full list of JR Pass exchange offices here.

Each traveller is required to have their own pass if you are travelling together. Regarding specific seat requirements, I recommend visiting a JR ticket office (Midori-no-madoguchi) and asking for assistance; the staff will be happy to help you.
