Hi i am trying to get a schedule in place for while im in Tokyo to make the most of everything. I would like to visit all the popular areas such as shibuya, shinjuku, harajuku, asakusa, akihabara, roppongi hills, ginza.

How long do you think i would need in each place? Also is there anywhere else you would suggest to go :)

Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

Have you read about the Yamanote line yet? This is a circle loop line takes stops at all these places and is brilliant to use to travel around Tokyo. It is also covered by the JR Pass.

The entire route can be found here. As for time spend in each place, it's easy to spend an entire day in each out without seeing of it. I'd advise visiting 3 per day to make it all doable in a short trip.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Thanks Daniel. I already have my Japan rail pass and i was going to be using the yamanote line :-).. I was planning on doing two areas a day so that should be fine. I planned it to stay in the same area e.g visiting shinjuku and shibuya one day, asakusa and akihabara another day etc :-).

Another question.. Where would you recommend to go to get nice views of my fuji.. Its hard to decide between hakone and fuji five lakes

Thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

Both are nice visits but you need the weather on your side! I think Fuji is better seen from the five lakes. However Hakone is a saver visit, as it offers lot's to do - even when Fuji is all hidden in the clouds. Hakone is also easier reached from Tokyo (36min by Shinkansen) instead of almost 2H to Kawaguchiko and possible additional travel to an other of the 5 lakes.

Hope this helps too :)
Daniel
