route planning with JR Pass - Alpine route

I think you've already laid most of the ground work, now it is just a matter of filling in the details.

For instance, the hardest part will be to travel from Hakone to Shinano-Omachi, the route takes nearly 6 hours: http://bit.ly/2tyw81e I can imagine that you'd be a bit tired already when you arrive there. Some maybe it is best to travel near Shinano-Omachi, stay there overnight and start fresh in the morning.

From there everything seems very amicable.

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.
