We'll be leaving from Sapporo. So we would start from there.

Sapporo to Akihabara

Tokyo (we'll be staying in Akihabara for all 5 days)
1) Akihabara (2days) Tokyo Anime Center, 11 am-7 pm, closed Mondays or Tuesday or Monday is holiday Don Quijote, 10 am- 5am(?) Yamada Denki, 10 am-10 pm 2) Shibuya (1 day) Shibuya 109 – fashion complex, 10 am-9 pm Koen Dori – shopping district 3) Shinjuku (1 day) Shinjuku Skyscraper District, 11 am- 11pm Japanese Sword Museum, 10 am-4 pm, Closed Mondays & New Years Holiday, $6 4) Harajuku (1 day) Takeshita Dori/Street, 11 am-8 pm LaForet Harajuku, 11 am-8 pm Daiso Harajuku – 100 yen shop, 10 am- 9pm

Akihabara to Kyoto

1) Kyoto (2 days) (we'll be staying in Kyoto all 5 days)
1) Kinkakuji 2) Ryoanji Temple 3) Fushimi Inari Shrine

2) Nara (1 day)
1) Kasuga Taisha 2) Todaiji Temple . 3) Osaka (2 days)
1) Osaka Aquarium 2) National Bunraku Theater

Kyoto to Tottori

Tottori (1 day)

Tottori to Hiroshima

Hiroshima (3 days)
1) Downtown Hiroshima, Hondori Sreet 2) Peace Memorial Park 3) Hiroshima Castle

We've worked it out so it's exactly 14 days so we could easily use a 14-day JR Pass, but I'm not sure if where we want to go is covered by the JR Pass. Can anyone please recommend if we should go ahead and get the 14-day JR Pass? And if anyone is willing could you give us some suggested routes that are best for traveling to these places? Everything is in the order that we will be going and seeing them. If someone could at least suggest the best way for getting from the main places to the next, such as Sapporo to Akihabara, Akihabara to Kyoto, Kyoto to Tottori, and lastly Tottori to Hiroshima. I would really appreciate the help!

Hi there,

Okay before we take a closer look, let me say that your itinerary looks amazing! Also the JR Pass would be perfect for your travels. Just travelling from Sapporo - Tokyo alone would cost ¥ 24,340 which is more than half the price of the 14 day JR Pass. Additionally the JR Pass will cover all your travel between the cities you wish to visit and also covers train travel within Tokyo and Osaka. All in all works out great!

As for the routes to travel:
Here is Sapporo - Akihabara.

and Akihabara - Kyoto.

Akk thge other routes are direct routes, just go to the station and ask the JR Staff for the first train to depart. For instance, trains to Nara depart every 15-20 minutes and every 10 minutes to Osaka. In general you never have to worry about the right route, just tell the JR Staff where you wish to travel - show the JR Pass - and the staff will find the best route for you.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
