Hakone to Matsumoto by jr train

Hi there,

From where in Hakone? General I'd advise using the Shinkansen from Odawara to Tokyo, then take a local train to Shinjuku and from there the ltd. express train Azusa to Shinjuku.

The Azusa is a ltd. express train operated by JR East. So it is covered by the JR Pass. There is no direct train from Tokyo station.

one more question please: would it not be faster to go from Odawara to Nagoya by shinkansen, than from Nagoya to Matsumoto by shinono ltd. express?
