I will be travelling to Japan in December for the first time for a week. My plan is to travel from Osaka to Kyoto, from Kyoto to Takayama & Shirakawago and finally from Takayama back to Osaka.
I would like to know in more detail about the transport from Kyoto to Takayama.
If I take the train, Wide View Hida Train from Kyoto to Takayama, how much is the ticket and what time is the train departure from Kyoto? What is the name of the station in Kyoto that I can take the train? Is this a different train from the Nozomi from Kyoto to Nagoya (Tokaido Shinkasen) then change to Hikari Bullet Train from Nagoya to Takayama (Wide View Hida)?
Alternately, if I take the bus from Kyoto to Takayama, are there two stations which I can take the buses?
1) Kyoto Station (Hachijoguchi)
2) Kyoto Fukakusa
May I know what is the name of the buses, how much and what is the time of the bus departure?
If I buy the JR pass of 7 days, can I use it between Osaka - Kyoto - Takayama without paying extra price? Can you advise me which is the cheapest way to travel between these few places?
