Hello!

I'm traveling for Japan, and I would like to include a trip to see Mt Fuji, staying one night in the surrounding area, and them continue my trip.
What is the best location for seeing Mt Fuji, staying there, and what is the best way to getting there from Tokyo (which train should I get, in which train stations, bus station...)

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hakone seems to be a nice place to see Mt. Fuji.

Hi there!

Has Janvic points out, Hakone is a great place to visit and view Fuji from. Especially since it is easily accessible with the Shinkansen, as you can take a direct train from Tokyo station to Odawara station.

An alternative is a visit to Kawaguchiko this is one of the most popular Fuji Viewing places, it is also possible to visit one of the other Fuji FIve Lakes from there.

Have a great time in Japan!
Daniel

Thank you both Janvic and Daniel-san for your help!

I have the travel more or less defined, but since you are a Japan an JR expert, maybe you can give me your opinion about it.

I'll be around 3 weeks in Japan. I'm thinking about this route:

From Tokyo to
Mt Fuji sightseeing (1 nigth in the area Hakone or Kawaguchiko that you suggest)
then Nagoya (1night)
Nara and Koyasan (1 night in Koyasan)
Osaka (1 night)
Himeji Castle
Kyoto (3 nights)
and back to Tokyo

Then make some day trips around Tokyo like Nikko, Yokohama...

Do you think it is a good trip in terms of sequence and places to visit? Do you suggest any other place to visit?
What about day trips around Tokyo?
What do you think is the most recomended JR Pass to do that? 7 days will be enough in your opinion for the main trip?

Thank you so much in advance for your kind help!

Hello again!

I think your route looks good, both in terms of travel time and visiting order. I would visit Hakone if you wish to travel on the Nagoya. This because travel from Hakone to Nagoya is much easier than Kawaguchiko - Nagoya.

For your current itinerary I think that a 7 day JR Pass would be enough, however you could expand your travel somewhat since you have 3 weeks in Japan. For instance consider adding a visit to Hiroshima or even to Kyushu. You could also consider a 14 day JR Pass in such a case.

I also read that you plan to visit Nikko, I would try to plan this in when you have your JR Pass valid, this because travel to Nikko using the JR can be rather pricey.

Hope this helps!
Daniel
