Hi there!

1.) A ticket from Kyoto - Fukuoka is ¥ 15,210, this is already more than half the price of a 7 day JR Pass, so depending on your travel in Kyushu it may be worth it.

2.) The JR Pass can only be purchased outside of Japan but the Kyushu pass can be purchased within Kyushu.

3.) There are different route which you can take, I would recommend using the JR Kyushu limited express directly from Kumamoto to Beppu and is covered by the JR Pass.

4.) If you have a JR Pass take the train from Buppu - Kokura and the Shinkansen to Fukuoka (Hakata) from there. Alternatively there are express buses that run between both cities and cost around 2,000yen.

1. I guess we can use JR pass directly from Kyoto to Kumamoto? Right? Is this a direct Shikansen from Kyoto to Kumamoto?

2. Is the map in this website shows all available train route for JR Pass?

Hi Tiger,

1.) You can take the Shinkansen all the way from Kyoto but this may involve 1 or sometimes 2 transfers at Shin-Osaka and or Hakata.

2.) You can use Hyperdia for online planning and a great interactive map which you can use to look up all lines covered.
