I just wanted an opinion on whether we should get the Japan Rail Pass or not. We will be in Japan from May 11th to May 26th. Out itinerary is as follows:
May 11th: Narita - Tokyo (JR Pass)
May 12th: Tokyo - Matsumato (JR Pass) / Matsumato - Kamikochi
May 13th: Kamikochi - Takayama
May 15th: Takayama - Kyoto (JR pass)
Whilst in Kyoto we wanted to do day trips to Nara and Osaka (JR Pass).
May 20th: Kyoto - Tokyo (JR Pass)
May 26th: Tokyo - Narita

Hi Luke,
I checked your itinerary for the best option and would advise buying normal tickets. You are below the price of a 14 day JR Pass with all ticket prices together. I also checked if a 7 day JR Pass would be handy for Takayama - Kyoto and Kyoto - Tokyo but also here would you be below the price of the pass.
