My itinerary is as follows. Would like to check if it makes sense to buy any regional passes.
Also, what will be a convenient pass to use for travel within Kyushu?
Day 1: Fly in Hiroshima, travel to Fukuoka (base)
Day 2: Fukuoka
Day 3: Fukuoka + day trip within Kyushu
Day 4: Kagoshima
Day 5: Kagoshima + day trip within Kyushu
Day 6: travel back to Hiroshima
Day 7: Hiroshima
Day 8: Hiroshima (may travel to Okunishima/Kyoto/Osaka)
Day 9: fly out Hiroshima

Hi there,
It will depend on your day trips within Kyushu but you can look at using one of the All Kyushu Area Passes. Going between Fukuoka - Hiroshima by Shinkansen will more than pay for this pass.
There's no relevant regional pass to cover Hiroshima - Fukuoka, so for this route you could buy normal tickets.
