Narita to Hokkaido to Osaka

Hi,
I'm planning a trip to Japan from 10/02/16 to 23/02/16 and I'm thinking of Hokkaido and Osaka.
My flight arrives at Narita airport ETA1455, and I intend to get the JR pass for my travels to Hokkaido and back to Osaka.

The rough plan
10/02/16 ARR 1455, night train to Hokkaido
11/02/16 ARR Hokkaido
11/02/16-16/02/16 Hokkaido
17/02/16 train to Osaka

1) What do you think of the plan overall?
2) I've seen the plan to take a shinkansen to Shin-amori followed by the sleeper to Hokkaido, would I have time to drop by Tokyo city on day 1?
3) Do I need to reserve for the carpet sleeper train? or normal seats?
4) Would 6 days be sufficient for Hokkaido?
5) Where would you recommend for stopovers between Hokkaido and Osaka?

Hi there,

I am afraid that it will be nearly impossible to get seats for the Sleeper train from Aomori to Sapporo, this is the Hamanasu train, which will be retired later in 2016. A lot of people want to experience it before it goes away and tickets have been selling out very quickly. So I am afraid the only option would be to travel by day. While I do think that your itinerary works even without a sleeper train, please consider first how you would like to proceed. For instance you could make a stop over at Aomori, stay there for a night and travel on the following morning.

Good stop overs to make between Sapporo and Osaka include, Hakodate, Sendai, Hirosaki, Tokyo, Hakone, Nagoya and Kyoto.
