I am coming to Japan for the Rugby World Cup and want to use my Japan Rail Travel pass to travel from Tokyo to Oita> I would like suggestions about rail routes down the East coast of Japan, I would like to go to Kanazawa then down the east coast to Oita and take about 5 days. I am travelling alone and would like to take slow regional trains on quiet country routes. I would also like suggestions as to which towns you recommend I stay at on that line. I would like to stay at Ryokan's in small Japanese towns if possible.
On my return from Oita I will travel on the east coast and go via Hiroshima. I have all my travel plans arranges for there but would like suggestions as to the slow relaxing way to go from Kanazawa to Oita. If you are able to help it would be very much appreciated
