Hello,
For the Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka-Tokyo route, individual tickets are a good option. However, if you plan to visit more places within a 7-day period, a Nationwide JR Pass is a very convenient and cost-effective alternative.
Our blog post, The best 7-day Japan itinerary for first-time visitors, also discusses using the JR Pass for efficient travel.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Mariko
