Exchanging JR Pass

Helloa Daniel-san, my family and I land at Narita on Saturday May 13, 2023 at 2:30 pm. We intend to exchange JR pass and take the shinkansen to Hiroshima same night. Doable? Please offer your suggestions on trains. Any indication on the queues to expect at Narita Terminal 2 JR East pass exchange office. Can I queue up at the JR East office with all the passports and JR Passes while the family collects the luggage -- does that help in reducing the overall time to get the pass?

Hi there,

It is possible but going to be a very long trip. Narita to Hiroshima will take about 6 hours or more by rail when done in one go. It may be better to split up your travel and add a stop in between. Also keep in mind that there may be long queues at immigration and/or the JR office at Narita Airport.

You can indeed go alone to the exchange office, bring your passports + exchange vouchers and do the process yourself.
