Reaching Mt. Koya from Hiroshima using jr pass

Hello,
We wanted to travel from Hiroshima to Mt Koya on the 10th of April. What would be the best possible way to reach making best use of our jr-pass.
Also on the 11th we travel from Mt. Koya to Kyoto. This also I am not able to figure out using the jr pass.
I am seriously wondering if these two sectors should be done without the pass?

Hi there,

Unfortunately you can not use the JR-Pass to travel the whole way to Mount Koya but it will get you far!
From Hiroshima I would recommend using the Shinkansen to Osaka and from there take the Kintetsu line to mount Koya, this will cost ¥1210. Also see the Wiki travel page for the best way to access mount Koya.

From Mount Koya you can then take the train back to Osaka and use the JR-Pass to travel the rest of the way to Kyoto.

Dear Daniel San,

Thank you for your reply. The Shinkansen is covered in the jr-pass, so that will be good till Osaka.

Thanks to you I have looked up the day ticket available at the Osaka station and will purchase it there. So it will be easier to travel right till Koya -san.
